Picabo Saunders

Picabo Saunders, originally from Wabash, Indiana, recently graduated from Indiana University with a B.F.A in Contemporary Dance, B.A in International Studies, and a minor in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. She also has studied in Jerusalem, Israel, where she collaborated with esteemed international choreographers at the Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance. At Indiana University, she showcased her talent in works by various choreographers and contributed to student-led productions, exploring a range of styles and techniques. Summers find her teaching and choreographing in Indiana studios while also continuing her training at prestigious intensives such as Dance Italia (2022) founded by Stefanie Nelson and LINK Audition Festival (2024) hosted by SALT. Her choreographic works have earned recognition, with her piece "Koto" being selected for two festivals in 2024, appearing in showcases like Trifecta Dance Collective's "A New Light" as well as “Moving Memory: Next Generation” a Dance Italia Alumni Festival. Beyond dance, Picabo merges her academic interests in anthropology and dance studies, striving to create inclusive spaces that nurture diverse artistic voices.
